Its been 2000 days since 9/11, and 2000 days since many of us began living in a Country at War! I was writing down the years since the "War on Abstract Concepts" began and nearly ran out of ink. It's been a huge length of time, but I don't feel any more war torn. It got me watching a bit more TV, and it's wasted countless hours of mine debating the point about hijabs and national ID cards (like theres a difference) but not much else. Whats particularly strange about all this is that I had no idea it was exactly 2000 days until I checked 10 minutes ago. Some kind of internal alarm clock must have gone off.

The Worst War Movie EVER!

I was raised on a diet of war movies. If I'm going to be forced into a war, I expect Hendrix blasting out of low flying choppers. I want to see commando rolls. I want to be crawling through long beautiful grassy fields to righteously avenge my fallen brothers. Instead, the chisel jawed Commander in Chief is played by the runt of the litter and the grassy field is an airconditioned GPS equipt office in an army base somewhere - all to a soundtrack by Billy-Ray Cyrus. I don't know what's more unjust - the war itself, or it's thoroughly unimaginative artistic direction.

My hope is that only the first half of this particular war movie has elapsed... We're still waiting for the protagonists realisation that war is fucking pointless. Unfortunately it's like it's being directed by Peter Jackon. (excessively long, directionless, and we're supposed to believe that rather than dying in war, people just set sail on a magical ship of legends.)

Oh well, there's some relief in knowing that the third film in the trilogy comes out in 2008 (thats the episode where the public elects Cthulhu to his rightful position as President)
