Comic: The Home of the Sun
Late again! It's true, I live day to day doing everything at the last minute, hurdling one deadline after another. Fortunately for us, time is an illusion. ("so is your pay packet" is the usual response) DeadlinesI'm honestly surrounded by deadlines right now. So much so that every letter I type on this keyboard effectively costs me money. Where you can hear the soft tapping of keys, I only hear the sound of coins falling from my pockets. I've seen some serious sweat dripping from peoples foreheads as they stress the outcome of an arbitrarily assigned deadline from the comfort of their airconditioned offices. Everyone in a business cares more about deadlines than the next guy in an attempt to be seen as an integral cog in the gears of profitability. This reward for profitability without punishment for amorality is what gives corporations the reputation for being sociopathic. I'm quite happy to be the guy that "doesn't care". Sure, it interests me to see people level up from Comfort Rating: 4 to Comfort Rating: 5, but I can't say it makes me lose any sleep when people have to wait another week before they can buy their new dinner jacket. To me, people climb higher and higher up the socio-economic ladder only to grow too afraid to ever look down. While these people stress from the top, those at the bottom are lucky to catch a few coins that fall from their pockets. (Trickle Down Economics 101) But of course even Edmund Hillary had to come down eventually. Still, being a mere mortal I'm not immune to stress, so until I find my place in the Home of the Sun |
